Hello Honest Honeys! Are you up for a fun challege thats going to get you up, moving, and your house cleaned? Today we introduce the 30 day cleaning challege! This is perfect for those of us that get so overwelmed with wanting to clean everything but end up backing away because we dont know where to start.

Each day for 30 days we will challege you to clean one thing. Each task is broken down and helps you focus on one task at a time. The best part is that each task will only take about 15 to 30 minutes a day. Remember, you don’t have to do it all at once—small, consistent steps will lead to big changes!

Dont forget  to save our checklist so that you can print it off and check each box as you go along

Week 1: Declutter the Essentials

We’re starting with the basics—getting rid of clutter! A clutter-free home is easier to clean and so much better for your mental health. Our brains actually like order.

What if you dont know what to throw out? No problem! A good rule of thumb here is that if it doesn't bring joy, doesn't have its own designated spot, or hasn't been used in a year then toss it!

Day 1: Declutter your entryway (shoes, bags, and mail). Who wants to see clutter as soon as they open the door? No one. what better way to set the tone at home than coming home to a clean and tidy entry way?

Day 2: Organize one junk drawer. Everyone has that one junk drawer, typically in the kitchen. Ours had mostly batteries, random screws, tape, scissors,  and random stuff that doesn't have a home. Time to get rid of it. Make a designated home for everything in your home!

Day 3: Clear your kitchen counters. No one likes looking at cluttered counters. Make a home for everything, and make sure that home isn't the counter tops! And when you're done just light a candle, put on some relaxing music and enjoy!

Day 4: Declutter your fridge and freezer. Be sure to use disinfectant wipes on each shelf, the bottom of the fridge and the seals. Watch all the sticky mess and crumbs just disappear and appreciate the pristine left behind.

Day 5: Organize your pantry or food storage. If you are like me then your food storage typically looks like someone was playing Tetris with all the food containers and lost... badly. Today lets focus on organizing our food. Toss out any expired food. Here is a link to some handy food storage containers if you are interested!

Day 6: Sort through your bathroom cabinets. Lets be real, sometimes if its out of sight it is out of mind. My cabinets had make up that was at least 7 years old in it... gross! Time to clean it out, besides it gives us an excuse to buy more! Here is a cute make up caddy to help with organization for any of that make up or toiletries that you may not be ready to part with.

Day 7: Purge expired cleaning products and supplies. I am so guilty of hoarding cleaning products. I  have no idea how many bathroom cleaners I just tend to collect. I have had friends actually give me cleaning products as gifts, its a love language.

Pro Tip: Set up a “donate” box for items you no longer need. You’ll be amazed at how much you can let go!

Week 2: Clean Key Living Spaces

Next, we’re focusing on the heart of your home—the living areas. The fact that most families are "living room families" is beautiful, However the more trafficked an area is the more it needs to be cleaned.

Day 8: Dust all surfaces in the living room. When dusting make sure to focus on TVs, mantles over fireplaces, anywhere that doesn't change very often. Keep an eye out to look out for dust on the ceiling and corners of the room. If you have a ceiling fan, use a Swiffer duster and possible safety glasses and a mask to protect air ways.

Tip: to keep areas from getting dusty to quick, use a tad of olive oil on solid surfaces like tables.

Day 9: Vacuum or mop living room floors. If you are like me then you can not stand stepping in crumbs or having dirt on your feet. I like to use microfiber socks when i mop to make sure im keeping the floor clean. If you would like to splurge and get the moping and vacuuming done at once here is a really nice mop vacuum that will come in handy! And it's cordless!

Day 10: Wash throw blankets and pillow covers. I don't know about you but I love the feeling when the dryer finally stops and I am able to take out a warm fuzzy blanket. I will 10/10 wrap my self like a big  burrito and lay there with no shame. Here are some scent beads that just make it smell so magical.

Day 11: Wipe down mirrors and glass surfaces. i like using microfiber clothes to wipe mirrors and glass. personally I feel they leave less smudges. here is a link for microfiber rags. They really are versatile in the cleaning world.

Day 12: Deep clean your coffee table and entertainment center.

Day 13: Sanitize light switches, remotes, and doorknobs. Use some sanitize wipes or Lysol after wiping these areas. This is especially important during the school year if you have children. Moms will know how important it is to disinfect everything when a child comes home sick, we also know we are all about to get it.

Day 14: Vacuum under furniture (sofas, chairs, etc.). I am so guilty of turning a blind eye to the under world of the couch. One time I neglected to clean under our sofa for 6 months. I found 20 empty soda cans that my step son had thrown down during summer vacation. Yuck, please no judgement I learned my lesson.

Pro Tip: Play your favorite music or a podcast while you clean—it makes the time fly!

Week 3: Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Now it’s time to tackle the spaces where you unwind and refresh. Going to sleep in a clean room, is a level of refreshing that I just have to take a moment to appreciate. I love crawling into a bed with freshly clean sheets.

Day 15: Wash bed linens and pillows.

Day 16: Declutter your closet (donate unused clothes). If you haven't read this article yet, please do! it will teach you methods that changed my life in the world of organization.

Day 17: Dust shelves and nightstands in the bedroom. Don't forget to take out those empty water bottles and cups. I see you!

Day 18: Deep clean your bathtub or shower. if you have stubborn soap scum, I recommend using the pink stuff.. it got all kinds of hard stains off our shower. here is an article i wrote all about what the pink stuff can actually clean.

Day 19: Clean your bathroom sink and counters. Good bye husband beard hairs that i just happened to miss when i cleaned last! Seriously, who else gets annoyed by that? get that man a beard catcher!

Day 20: Scrub the toilet and mop the bathroom floor. This is not a fun chore by any means, but necessary! A helpful hint is to get some disposable gloves and a pumice stone for those hard stains.. with a little bit of elbow grease, you will thank me after!

Day 21: Clean your bathroom mirrors and fixtures.

Pro Tip: Use this time to add little touches, like a fresh candle or cozy throw blanket, to make these spaces extra inviting.

Week 4: Tackle Forgotten Areas

These tasks often get overlooked, but they make a big difference!

Day 22: Wipe down baseboards and door frames. Adding a bit of oil to a microfiber rag after cleaning these is life changing, trust me!

Day 23: Clean windows inside and out.

Day 24: Vacuum or clean vents and fans. I actually have to clean these monthly because i can tell a difference in air quality when they are dirty. Yikes.

Day 25: Deep clean your oven or stovetop. I prefer to use the pink stuff for this as well and then an oven cleaner after that's all said and done. I do not like to use the cleaning setting on my oven as I heard it is more likely to cause fires. however that is a personal preference, and you can do whatever you are comfortable with.

Day 26: Clean out your car (interior and exterior). I hate cleaning out our car. Any one who have small children know how difficult this can be. however today lets grin and bare it, because we know when its all done we will be so happy for the next few days any time we go to work or run errands. If only we could get that new car smell back.

Day 27: Sanitize your washing machine and dryer. I was today years old when i learned not only should I clean our lent trap, but we also have an air filter that is supposed to be cleaned as well... my bad! however here is a nice cleaning solution for your washer.

Day 28: Declutter and clean one storage space (attic, basement, or garage). This is where The Mari Kondo method will really come into play if you are a pack rat like me. Here is the link to her book.

Pro Tip: Break up these larger tasks into sections if you need to—progress is progress!

Week 5: Finishing Touches

You’re almost there! This final week is all about celebrating your hard work and maintaining your fresh, clean home.

Day 29: Add fresh touches (flowers, candles, or new décor). Now just sit back and admire the sights and smells. You are almost done!

Day 30: Walk through your home, admire your progress, and make a to-do list for maintenance.

Pro Tip: Take a moment to enjoy your clean, organized space—you earned it!
