Protect Your Home and Health With A Dehumidifier!
Are you tired of dealing with mold, musty odors, and allergies in your home? A dehumidifier might be the solution you need! Not only can it help improve air quality and reduce dust mites, but it can also protect your home and health from moisture damage. Read on to discover the top benefits of using a dehumidifier in your home.
Dehumidifiers work by removing excess moisture from the air. They use a fan to draw in humid air and pass it over a cold coil, which causes the moisture in the air to condense into water droplets. The water is collected in a container or drained through a hose, while the dry air is released back into the room. Some dehumidifiers also have a filter to remove impurities from the air. By reducing the humidity levels in your home, a dehumidifier can help prevent mold and mildew growth, improve air quality, and protect your home and belongings from moisture damage.

I live in Florida, which is very hot and muggy. Most nights, before I bought a dehumidifier it was like my bed was sprayed with a water bottle before I laid down for the night. I would toss and turn because of how hot and muggy it was even with a fan and air conditioner on.
Along with that, my partner and I have very bad allergies, which I didn’t even realize could be an issue with humidity levels inside my house. With small children of my own, I was worried about what other possible issues all this moisture in my home was causing and how I could find a solution quickly.
That’s when I found from doing some research that what I needed was a dehumidifier. Today we are going to talk about a dehumidifier that is a must have in your home. Particularly for homes in high humidity areas. Below I will mention all the ways this dehumidifier will benefit your health and home.
I did a lot of research and I ended up buying a Uhome 30 pint dehumidifier. This dehumidifier was recommended for 1,500 square feet. It even has an activated carbon filter to purify the air. I’ve had this dehumidifier for about a year now and I don’t think I could live comfortably without it.
Here are some things this dehumidifier can do:
Reduces Humidity Levels, Which Prevents Mold and Mildew From Growing
When the humidity level in your home reaches above 60% the air becomes moist enough for mold and mildew to spore. Mold and mildew like warm moist places. From paper to wood, mold and mildew can grow on anything. It’s best to control the level of moisture in your home and fix any leaks you notice to prevent it from growing as soon as you can!
The best moisture level for your home is between 30% and 50%. This keeps things comfortable for you and decreases the chances of mold growing in your home. It also reduces allergens, among other things we will discuss later.
The Uhome Dehumidifier has a control panel that actually lets you pick the humidity level you want your home to be. It also tells you what the current humidity level is in your home. It’s super quiet, which is an added bonus. I set my humidity level in my home to around 40%, and I empty the Uhome dehumidifier tank about 3 times in a 24 hour period. It has a drain for continuous drainage of preferred.
Helps alleviate allergies and respiratory issues
According to the American Lung Association, Mold is everywhere. Mold doesn’t really pose a threat until it meets moisture. That’s when it starts growing, which causes issues. Mold particles can irritate your eyes, nose, lungs, skin, and throat.
Symptoms can be more severe for people with asthma, respiratory problems, allergies. Infants and geriatric are very susceptible to issues caused by mold. The CDC states there are recent studies that have suggested a potential link of early mold exposure to development of asthma in some children, particularly among children who may be genetically susceptible to asthma development.
A dehumidifier is a crucial tool for pulling a lot of moisture out of your home to prevent mold from growing, which in turn can help alleviate allergies and respiratory issues caused by mold growth. If you’d like to learn more about these studies, I will leave the links in the sources at the end.
Improves air quality by removing excess moisture and pollutants
Moisture in your home can promote not only mold but growth of dust mites, Cockroaches, bacteria, and viruses. A dehumidifier improves air circulation, along with taking moisture out of the air. Less moisture in the air means that these pollutants are less likely to thrive in your home.
The Uhome again was the best option for me because it comes with an activated Carbon filter, the manual says it can last up to a year before needing a replacement. So not only is this dehumidifier taking that extra moisture out of the air, it’s also purifying as it goes. I’m a two birds one stone sort of girl. The more multifunctional something is, the better I like it.
Preserves your home and belongings by preventing moisture damage
Moisture causes more than just damage to your health. It can also wreak havoc on everything you own. From your favorite outfits to your furniture, nothing stands a chance against an over abundance of moisture in your home. As we stated earlier mold likes to grow on anything if the moisture level is above 60%, a dehumidifier will keep the humidity level
Controlled so you don’t have to worry about damages caused to your home and belongings.
The neat thing about the Uhome dehumidifier that I like is that it has a laundry drying feature to work overtime to keep your clothes dry. It has two settings: low and high. Along with a cleaning feature to reduce mold in the machine itself when it is not in use.
Increases energy efficiency of your HVAC system by reducing the workload on your air conditioner.
The UHome dehumidifier will help keep your HVAC running longer by reducing the work your HVAC system has to do. It reduces moisture which also helps cool your home off. This helps save energy that your HVAC system would use otherwise, which can help make your utility bill lower.
Your HVAC system helps keep your home cooled down, however if you live in an area with higher levels of moisture then your HVAC is doing even more work because Moisture makes it harder for your home to cool down.
Conclusion
There are many ways a dehumidifier can benefit your home and health. From keeping mold and mildew at bay, to saving you money on your utility bill. Dehumidifiers are definitely a must have in your home.
